Choose Models for offer request

Intended

  • Measurement of liquid, viscous and solid samples, regardless of turbidity, viscosity, transparency and absorption
  • Suitable for measuring films and solids
  • Large measuring range nD 1,3000-1,7200 and 0-95% Brix, manually adjustable scale
  • Reading the measured values through the eyepiece
  • Robust housing and easy operation
  • With thermostat connections for temperature control with an external thermostat
  • Temperature is displayed on the LCD screen

Abbe refractometers are used to perform refractometric measurements over a wide range of refractive index nD once the Brix sugar scale. They are classic devices characterized by the highest precision of reading and simple use. With the use of an external circulation thermostat it is possible to control the temperature of the measuring prism of the refractometer. The kit of such an Abbe refractometer usually includes a power supply, a reference plate, contact fluid, a carrying case and also an instruction manual. The manufacturer has two classic Abbe refractometers, the AR4 and AR2008. In the AR2008, the measurement evaluation is done digitally, while the AR4 the measured value is then read through the ocular.

Abbe AR 4 analog refractometer

The AR4 determines refractive index between nD 1.3000 - 1.7200 and sugar content between 0 - 95% Brix. Measurements can be carried out for both liquid, viscous and solid samples, regardless of their turbidity, viscosity, transparency and absorption. A thermostat connection allows temperature control with an external optional thermostat.

Abbe AR 2008 digital refractometer

Reading of the measurement results, i.e. refractive index, Brix value, and temperature, is possible via a digital display.

Application

Abbe refractometers are widely used in the chemical, petrochemical, food industries, hospitals, pharmacies, and research and education offices. A special feature is the ability to measure not only liquid and viscous samples, but also solids and films. The main application areas are:

  • Identity test, purity control and concentration determination of raw materials, intermediates and final products
  • Determination of sugar concentration
  • Inspection of incoming and outgoing goods
  • Inspection of purity
  • Testing of food and pharmaceutical products
  • Testing for compliance with national and international standards
