The semi-automatic KSP meter is used to measure the melting temperature of powder substances in a glass capillary. The device is equipped with digital temperature control, a keypad for easy cleaning, and a clear error message display in English and German.

With an illuminated lens, it is possible to monitor the sample. A built-in fan provides automatic rapid cooling. There are 2 measurement methods: visual or automatic used for independent inspection of problematic substances without having a visible melting point or with a change in color.

The KSP1D heats until the melting point is reached and starts automatically printing a report of the progress of substances reaching the melting point. In the KSP1N, on the other hand, when the selected temperature is reached, a filled capillary is inserted; visual inspection of the capillary is done through a magnifying glass. When the "start" button is pressed again, the device heats further. When the sample has melted the value can be read on the display.
