The Rotavisc viscometer is a laboratory rotary viscometer from IKA used to measure the viscosity of liquids. The line includes eight variants differing in measuring range (from low-viscosity liquids to 320,000,000 mPa·s), tripod type (classic Rotastand or motorized HELISTAND for measurement on the move) and measuring spindle set (SP set-1 or SP kit-2). Spindles, a protective frame, a temperature sensor and a tripod are supplied as standard.

Application of the Rotavisc viscometer
The Rotavisc viscometer is a laboratory rotary viscometer used to measure the viscosity of high-viscosity liquids – from the laboratory to quality control. The line covers the full measurement range: from low-viscosity liquids (up to 6,000,000 mPa·s) to extremely high-viscosity liquids (up to 320,000,000 mPa·s).
Model selection
The Rotavisc line includes eight variants created from a combination of four viscosity ranges and two types of tripod.
The first selection criterion is the viscosity range of the tested samples. The lo-vi model (up to 6,000,000 mPa·s) covers the lowest range, the me-vi (up to 40,000,000 mPa·s) and the two high ranges – hi-vi I (up to 80,000,000 mPa·s) and hi-vi II (up to 320,000,000 mPa·s). The higher the range, the denser the materials can be measured in it.
The second criterion is the type of tripod. Each of the four ranges is available in two versions – with the classic Rotastand tripod (model designation Complete) or the motorized tripod HELISTAND (designation HELI Complete). In the Rotastand version, the spindle rotates in a stationary sample, in the HELISTAND version, the motor additionally moves the spindle in the sample as it rotates, a measurement of viscosity in motion, one of the key features of the Rotavisc.
The measuring spindle set is selected according to the viscosity range and supplied as standard with the device. The lo-vi models receive the SP set-1, while the me-vi, hi-vi I, and hi-vi II models receive the SP set-2. Regardless of the model chosen, the set also includes a spindle protective frame, a temperature sensor and a tripod (Rotastand or HELISTAND depending on the selected version).
