Laboratory stools

Laboratory stools for laboratory work

Laboratory stools are seats without a backrest (or with a low backrest) designed to work at worktops, workbenches and stations of standard and increased height. The lack of full support forces an upright posture, which relieves the lower spine during many hours of work in a semi-sitting position. This solution works well wherever the operator often gets up, reaches for equipment or moves between stations.

The stools available in the DANLAB offer come from two proven manufacturers - the German brand Bimos, specializing in laboratory and industrial seats, and the Polish company Lenmet. Both catalogues include variants that differ in the range of height adjustment, the type of base end and the presence of the backrest.

Ergonomic seat with rounded front edge

The seat profile is designed for long working in a semi-sitting position. The rounded, soft front edge does not block circulation in the thighs, which is a common cause of leg fatigue and numbness when sitting on classic stools for many hours. The lack of hard edges eliminates point pressure on the surface of the thigh and knee.

The entire usable surface of the seat is covered with upholstery, and its flexibility adapts to the weight and position of the operator's body. Bar stools will work well both for longer microscopic work and for workstations that require frequent getting up and moving.

Stable five-spoke base with wheels or feet

All bar stools are based on a solid, five-armed base, which provides full stability regardless of the user's position and angle of inclination. The five-spoke design is standard in seats designed for intensive use - it prevents the bar stool from tipping over when sitting, standing up and reaching for the equipment.

Depending on the model, there are two types of base termination:

  • castors - for free movement between stations,
  • Non-slip feet - for permanent work in one place, e.g. at analytical balances or microscopes.

The choice of castors or feet depends on the specifics of the station. Where dynamics and mobility are important, wheels will work better. For precision stations - e.g. with  an analytical balance, where even small vibrations can disrupt the measurement - feet are a better choice.

Easy cleaning and disinfection of bar stool surfaces

The surface of the stools has been designed in a way that facilitates daily disinfection. The seat and base do not have nooks and crannies or hard-to-reach gaps where dirt, dust or reagent residues could accumulate. Simply wipe the surface with a cloth soaked in a typical disinfectant to prepare the bar stool for further operation.

Upholstery materials are resistant to contact with standard preparations used in laboratories - i.e. isopropyl alcohols, chlorine agents and most surface disinfections. This solution is especially important in microbiological, pharmaceutical and medical laboratories, where hygiene protocols are part of everyday work.

Height adjustment of the bar stool to suit the station

Depending on the model,  the seat height is infinitely adjusted by means of a gas cylinder or a screw mechanism. This allows you to adjust the bar stool to the height of the countertop, laboratory table or other workstation where it will be used.

Available control ranges include:

  • 450–650 mm - for standard laboratory worktops,
  • 650–850 mm - for elevated positions and technological worktops,
  • 550–800 mm and 560–690 mm - in models Lenmet SPU.

The infinitely variable adjustment allows height adjustment during operation, which is important when the bar stool is used by several operators of different heights or when the same user works at different worktop heights during the day.

Bar stools with and without backrest in four colors

The offer includes classic bar stools - without a backrest, forcing an upright posture - and versions with a low backrest for greater comfort during longer sitting. The choice depends on the specifics of the work: for short, dynamic tasks, stools without a backrest will work, for longer sessions at a microscope or computer workstation, models with low lumbar support will be better.

The seats are available in four upholstery colours:

  • black - universal, easily combines with any décor,
  • blue - often chosen for pharmaceutical laboratories,
  • grey - neutral, suitable for modern interiors,
  • red - clear, making it easier to mark special stations.

Color differentiation allows you to match the bar stools to the aesthetics of the laboratory or use them to mark specific workstations - for example, assign a color to a specific zone or type of analysis.
