The Mekera burner is another gas laboratory burner that is a variation of the Bunsen burner. It differs only in having a wider tip at the top of the nozzle. The grid located there allows the flame to be broken up, resulting in a higher temperature and larger surface area. The Meker burner is most often used for roasting samples for weighing analysis.
